GSP NARRATIVE:
“…at approximately 0852 AM, a Trooper from the Gainesville Post of the Georgia State Patrol (GSP) responded to SR-347 (Friendship Road) and Deaton Creek Parkway to investigate a traffic crash.
Upon arrival, the trooper determined a 2022 Kia K5 operated by, Philip Okun, 83, of Hoschton was traveling east attempting to turn left onto Deaton Creek Parkway. A Hall County Fire (HCFR) Engine, a 2023 Pearce Enforcer operated by, Jeffery Reed, 58, of Gainesville was traveling west responding to a call. The Hall County Fire Engine was approaching the intersection and the Kia K5 turned left in front of the Fire Engine. The Hall County Fire engine was unable to stop and struck the Kia K5 on the right side.
After the initial impact, the Kia K5 rotated clockwise and came to an uncontrolled final rest off the roadway. The Hall County Fire Engine came to a controlled stop in the west bound lanes.
Mr. Okun was transported from the scene for treatment of injuries. Mr. Reed was transported from the scene for further medical evaluation. Mr. Philip Okun was cited for failure to yield while turning left.”
