A Gainesville woman faces a number of charges, including DUI, after she left the scene of the accident, only to be followed by the victim, according to the state patrol.
STATE PATROL NARRATIVE:
“(Sunday evening about 7:45, a Trooper from GSP Post 6 – Gainesville responded to the area of Mountain View Rd. and Old Oakwood Rd. to investigate a two-vehicle crash.
Upon arrival and after the investigation, it was determined that a Toyota Rav-4, driven by Cynthia Lowe, 37, of Gainesville, was in the far-left turn lane on Thurmon Tanner Pkwy, at the intersection of SR 13 (Atlanta Hwy), waiting to turn left. A Honda Civic, driven by Jamilia Brown, 20, of Gainesville, was in the right-hand, left-turn lane on Thurmon Tanner Pkwy, also waiting to turn left onto SR 13.
When the traffic signal turned green, both vehicles began to turn left, but Ms. Lowe turned improperly and entered the right-hand, left-turn lane, striking the driver’s side of the Honda with the passenger side of the Toyota. After the impact, Ms. Lowe did not stop and continued north on SR 13 before turning left on Memorial Park Dr. and then left onto Mountain View Rd. Ms. Brown followed until Ms. Lowe stopped at the intersection of Mountain View Rd and Old Oakwood Rd.
During the investigation, Ms. Lowe was determined to be under the influence of alcohol and was placed under arrest. Ms. Lowe was transported to the Hall County Jail and booked on charges of Improper Turn, Driving Under the Influence, and Leaving the Scene of an Accident. There were no injuries reported to either driver, and minor damage to both vehicles.”
Lowe is free on bond.
