A group home for recovering drug addicts is planned for Cleveland Highway at Riverbend Circle, according to the agenda for the Oct. 14 meeting of the Gainesville Planning & Appeals Board (GPAB).
The applicant is proposing to rezone the property with a special use to establish a group home for men
as part of the Restore 5:10 ministry program. RESTORE 510 According to Jeffery Chase Adams’ request, it would be a transitional housing and educational support program for men who have successfully completed a drug rehabilitation program.
The property contains a house with a basement that was previously owned and occupied by
the neighboring Riverbend Church as the “Project Hope House” which provided food and clothing “within the local community,” according to documents on file with the city. Prior to that, the property was an addiction ministry called “Joe’s Place at Riverbend.”
Adams intends to renovate the structure to house four men, including a resident manager.
Also, on the agenda is a request involving the proposed construction of four condominiums at the
intersection of Hidden Cove Court and Old Thompson Bridge Road. The matter was tabled at an earlier GPAB meeting.
