GPD investigating $45K theft; GFD reports northside house fire; HCSO – Weekend chase update

*Gainesville Police (GPD) are investigating the theft of a $45,000 piece of equipment from a Browns Bridge Road construction site. Lt. Kevin Holbrook says the missing item is a Skid Steer Tractor.

*The Gainesville Fire Department (GFD) released details Tuesday on a house fire on the north side of town that happened Saturday. Spokesman Joshau Sheridan says it happened in the early morning houses and was reported out by 2:30. Cause of the fire which was on Springview Road could not be immediately determined. No one was at home of the time.

*The Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) in releasing new information on the weekend chase in which the fleeing motorist was injured said that after a spike strip in the road “Instead of stopping, the driver, later identified as Makenna Raye Steed, 23, of Canton, Michigan, continued north for approximately 2.5 miles before wrecking in the area of mile marker 22.” The sheriff’s office also says Steed was wanted on traffic charges by the Flowery Branch Police Department.
