GDOT seeking public input on $113M Dahlonega Hwy. project

The Georgia DOT (GDOT) is seeking feedback on the proposed widening and reconstruction of Dahlonega Highway, to include three roundabouts, in North Hall from Price Road to Yellow Creek Road near Murrayville.

GDOT says the goal is to “improve safety and…reduce current and future congestion along the corridor.”

The timetable for the project along with the cost of each component:

Project PhaseAmountFiscal Year
Preliminary Engineering, Scoping$14,476,274.402023
Right of Way$26,368,000.002027
Construction$66,653,052.642030
Utilities$6,250,017.382030
Total$113,747,344.42
  • Project proposes to add roundabouts at three locations along the corridor at Elrod Road, Hubert Stephens Road/Fieldale Farms Driveway, and Kanaday Road/Old Dahlonega Road; studies have shown roundabouts reduce crashes and improve operations by eliminating crossing conflicts and reduce delay when compared to a signalized intersection.
  • Add sidewalks

GDOT invites the public to provide comments by May 23.
