The Gainesville City Council (GCC) is expected to formally schedule a special election in May for the vacant Ward 1 post on the council when it meets Tuesday. The post was left vacant last year with the death of incumbent Danny Dunagan.
The council’s agenda includes a resolution calling for the non-partisan election to be held May 19, the same day that this year’s General Election primaries will be held.
Also on the agenda are consideration of an Intergovernmental Agreement between Gainesville and Gwinnett County for emergency water usage and a Public Transportation Agency Safety Plan.
