The GBI is investigating the death of an inmate at Lee Arrendale State Prison in Alto.
The AJC reports the body of Sheqweetta Vaughn was discovered in her cell in July. The remains were already in a state of decomposition, even though prison personnel were supposed to be checking on the 32-year-old every half-hour.
An autopsy was unable to produce a cause of death.
