Gas prices are up this week compared to last week, a nickel a gallon nationally, nine cents in the state, and ten-cents-a-gallon on average in Gainesville. And with the new outbreak of hostilities in the Middle East even more increases are on the horizon, experts say.
Already, according to SRN NEWS/REUTERS, oil prices, since Saturday when the attacks on Iran began, have jumped seven percent to their highest levels in months. Tankers have been damaged and shipments from the key producing region have been disrupted.
AAA reported before the onset of the war that the seasonal rise in gas prices was underway, reflected in the increase in prices cited above.
As of this morning, the average price nationally is $2.98, in Georgia it is $2.78, and Gainesville, $2.77.
