Gas prices continue to slide

The price of gasoline continues to tumble with the national average for a gallon slipping below $3.00 for the first time in four years, AAA reports. As of today, it is $2.95. Last Monday it was $3.07.

Locally, the price in Hall County is averaging $2.76 this week compared to $2.83 a week ago. And the state average is down a nickel to $2.79.

There are three basic reasons prices continue to fall, according to AAA. “Crude oil prices remain on the lower side around $60 a barrel. Sluggish gas demand and cheaper-to-produce winter blend gasoline are also contributing to the drop at the pump.”
