Gainesville man charged with drug distribution

Hall County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Gainesville man for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute during a recent traffic stop on Dawsonville Highway near Marina Drive.

HALL COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE NARRATIVE:

“At roughly 9 p.m. on Friday Jan. 3, (Traffic Unit) deputies stopped the car after checking its speed at approximately 88 mph in the area, which has a posted speed limit of 45 mph. The driver, Warren Tamarius Kelly, 31, did not have his driver’s license with him.

During the investigation, deputies located approximately 18 grams of methamphetamine in six individual bags, along with scales in the car. They also found a handgun and a small amount of marijuana. Deputies arrested Kelly without incident and obtained warrants charging him with the following offenses:

  • Possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute (felony)
  • Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon (felony)
  • Possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime (felony)
  • Possession of marijuana (misdemeanor)
  • No driver’s license on person (misdemeanor)
  • Speeding (misdemeanor)

Kelly was booked into the Hall County Jail where he remained held without bond on Tuesday morning…”
