Gainesville group among recipients of Dollar General foundation grants

The Dollar General Literacy Foundation has awarded $110,000 in youth literacy grants to Georgia nonprofit organizations, libraries and schools which the foundation says will “positively” impact the lives of about 9,000 people.

In our area, money is headed to:

Gainesville: Hispanic Alliance GA – $4,000

Cumming: Mentor Me North Georgia, Inc. – $2,180

Jefferson: Piedmont Regional Library System – $3,000

Demorest: Piedmont University – $3,000

These grants aim to support schools, public libraries, and nonprofit organizations within a 15-mile radius of a Dollar General store or distribution center in implementing new literacy initiatives or expanding existing ones.
