Gainesville now has a police foundation.
The Law Enforcement Strategic Support (LESS) Crime Act allows businesses and individual taxpayers to claim a tax credit for their contributions to qualified law enforcement foundations, such as the just-created Gainesville Police Foundation.
This dollar-for-dollar tax credit program allows single filers to claim up to $5,000, married couples up to $10,000, Subchapter S corporations and partnerships up to $10,000, and qualified C corporations up to 75% of their state tax liability up to $3 million.
“Thank you for taking the time and interest to not only support the Gainesville Police Department, but to keep your hard-earned tax dollars right here in Gainesville, Georgia, where they can be used to keep Gainesville-Hall County the safe place we all want to live and raise our families,” the recent announcement concludes.
According to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), “the purpose of police foundations is to support law enforcement agencies by providing resources and funding for programs, equipment, and special needs that cannot be readily provided through public sector funds. They play a crucial role in bridging gaps and ensuring that law enforcement agencies have access to the latest tools and training.”
