*The Georgia Association of Educators (GAE) wants to change the state’s funding formula for school districts. The Quality Basic Education formula has been used by the state for more than 40 years, but the association claims it hasn’t kept up with changing needs. Instead, the group is suggesting that things like poverty, mental health services and classroom technology should be incorporated into that formula.
*An E.coli outbreak is being connected to blueberries sold in some Georgia grocery stores. The FDA revealed one person from the Peach State has been sickened after eating GreenWise organic blueberries from Publix. The grocery chain is urging anyone who bought the product before July 3 to throw them out or return the item. Close to a dozen people in Florida have also fallen ill.
*West Nile virus is popping up in Atlanta for the first time this year. The Fulton County Board of Health announced Wednesday that samples from a trap near Grant Park tested positive this week.
