*Atlanta is launching a new safety program for teen Uber riders, part of the ‘Teen Accounts’ initiative. Parents can now watch a live video stream of their teen’s trip and will receive a notification when the ride starts.
*Georgia’s first Safe Haven Baby Box is opening. The climate-controlled box for babies is opening at a Henry County fire station today. It will close immediately after being opened and will alert first responders. The boxes are designed to reduce infant abandonment. More than 400 boxes have been installed across the country. Parents in the state can also surrender their babies up to 30 days old without consequences at hospitals, police stations, and any fire station.
*The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is trying to figure out where suspected human waste came from in the Ocmulgee River. One person reports seeing a port-a-potty truck of disposing of the waste near Pope’s Ferry Landing earlier this week. Investigators are asking witnesses to come forward with information.
