GSP NARRATIVE:
“On (Friday) at 11:04 AM, Troopers responded to two separate crashes occurring on I-985 SB south of SR 347 (Friendship Rd.). The roadway was quickly cleared, and the crash investigation was conducted on the west shoulder of I-985 SB. There were no injuries resulting from these crashes.
At 11:28 AM, a crash occurred on I-985 SB just north of the previous crash locations while Troopers were still investigating the previous crashes. A Hyundai Elantra was traveling southbound on I-985 in the left lane. A Hyundai Palisade was traveling south directly in front of the Elantra. The Palisade was slowing due to heavy congestion in the roadway. The Elantra struck the Palisade in the rear end area causing the Palisade to overturn, blocking both Southbound lanes. The driver of the Elantra and two occupants in the Palisade reported minor injuries but were not transported to hospitals.
Directly following this crash, a GMC Acadia struck a Jeep Gladiator in the rear end due to following too closely. There were no injuries resulting from this crash.
I-985 SB lanes were closed for approximately one hour due to the overturned vehicle blocking the roadway.”
