*On Friday, the Orion spacecraft departed Earth’s orbit and is heading to the moon, flying within four to six thousand miles of the lunar surface next week. While the crew of four isn’t from Georgia, 17 companies in the state, including GM Dicron [[ Dye-cron ]] in Griffin, contributed to the rocket’s assembly. WSB-TV reports Georgia Tech professor John Christian also helped develop navigation algorithms for the Artemis missions. This marks the first crewed voyage to the Moon since 1972.
*A former assistant coach for Bremen City Schools is in jail. Brad Matthews was arrested last week on charges involving at least four boys ages 14-17. The investigation began following a March 17 conversation among several victims encouraging others to come forward. Authorities say Matthews is facing 12 charges, including four counts of sexual assault by a person of trust engaged in sexual conduct. The former assistant coach with the school district held several roles with the school district, including serving as a shuttle bus driver.
*Georgia homeowners may soon have more protections against aggressive homeowners’ associations as a bipartisan bill moves to the Governor’s desk for his signature. The bill places HOAs under the authority of the Georgia Secretary of State’s office, providing oversight and regulation. Fox 5 Atlanta reports the legislation aims to create a more fair and transparent system for homeowners in Georgia.
