The average price of a gallon of gasoline in Gainesville is down eight cents to $2.82 today compared to what it was a week ago, according to AAA. And the state average is down a nickel to $2.82. But the national average is up two cents and sits at $3.10.
Despite the burst of gasoline demand that occurred Thanksgiving week, overall demand is low this time of year which helps keep pump prices down, AAA says.
The national average has seen few fluctuations this year thanks to low crude oil prices and no major storms affecting Gulf Coast refineries.
