The drought that has been plaguing most of Georgia the past few months continued to slowly move northward during the past week but most of our corner of the state remains drought-free.
The only northeast Georgia counties officially suffering, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor (USDM), are Elbert, Gwinnett, Forsyth, Pickens, Gilmer, Fannin, Union, and Rabun, with Gwinnett and Forsyth hit hardest. (See map at Georgia | U.S. Drought Monitor.
The level of Lake Lanier, meanwhile, held steady the past week and remains at 1064.5 as of today.
