Ga. doubles solar energy output; Judge tosses GOP election lawsuit; # of Ga. women seeking out-of-state abortions rising

*More solar energy is being produced in Georgia than ever before. The Peach State has already more than doubled its production of solar megawatts through three-quarters of the year than it did all of last year. The nearly 1,400 megawatts so far rank fifth in the U.S. Reports show that Georgia now has enough solar energy to power 843,000 homes.  

*The AJC reports a Fulton County judge has dismissed a lawsuit that sought to force the county to hire Republican poll workers for last month’s general election. The county hired 23 of 61 election workers recommended by the party. But in a lawsuit, the Republican Party argued that state law required Fulton to hire all of the workers.

*Out-of-state travel for an abortion is increasing among Georgia women seeking the procedure elsewhere because of Georgia’s strict abortion law. Among the latest: A mother of two couldn’t take on the cost and responsibility of another child and one who lost nearly all her amniotic fluid early in pregnancy.
