A pair of wrecks on Ga. 365 at Ga. 384 (Duncan Bridge Road) in Baldwin snarled traffic Friday morning after a pedestrian signal was struck, resulting in the traffic signal flashing red in all directions.
The Georgia State Patrol notified Habersham County officials of the wrecks at 8:50, with one on the southbound side of Ga. 365 blocking the turn lane onto Ga. 365 southbound and resulting in injuries.
A second wreck occurred in the northbound lanes, resulting in no injuries. That wreck was investigated by Baldwin Police Department.
Habersham County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the investigating trooper’s request for additional units, assisting with traffic control until Georgia Department of Transportation crews restored the traffic signal to normal function.
The wrecks were cleared within an hour.
