>>>>FROM THE GEORGIA STATE PATROL: STUDENT INJURED IN BROWNS BRIDGE ROAD WRECK INVOLVING HALL SCHOOL BUS TUESDAY<<<<

GSP NARRATIVE

“On 08/22/2023 at approximately 4:20 p.m., a Hall County Schools’ school bus was traveling southbound on Cherokee Road, attempting to turn right onto SR 369 westbound. The driver, Pual Edward Appleby of Oakwood, GA, misjudged the clearance between the edge of the roadway and ditch running along the westbound shoulder of SR 369. The passenger rear tire of the school bus fell into the ditch as the right turn was being made. The school bus came to a controlled rest partially off the roadway.

One injury from a student sitting towards the rear passenger side of the school bus was reported, and the student was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville with minor injuries. All students were able to exit the school bus using the rear emergency door. The school bus was pulled out of the ditch and was able to be driven to the Hall County Schools’ Bus Depot for a safety inspection.

Multiple students that lived nearby left the scene and walked home before another school bus arrived to take to home those who waited. The driver was given a warning for Failure to Maintain Lane.”
