FROM GEORGIA NEWS NETWORK: A CHURCH FIRE AND A SPECIAL WIN FOR A GEORGIA GOLFER

*A Savannah congregation is regrouping after a devastating fire destroyed its sanctuary. Fire officials say lightning struck the steeple during storms last week, causing fire to spread through Central Missionary Baptist Church. Pastor Tyrone Edwards tells WSAV-TV, worshippers were able to gather at nearby St. Paul’s Missionary Baptist this weekend thanks to an invitation from that church’s leadership.

*A former Georgia Bulldog is on top of the golfing world. Brian Harman won the British Open Sunday, the first time he’s won one of the sport’s major tournaments. The 36-year-old Savannah native outpaced some of the game’s most well-known names for a six-shot victory in Liverpool. Another former Bulldog, Sepp Straka, finished in a tie for second place.
