Forsyth school board: Enough is enough

The Forsyth County Board of Education (BOE) is asking the county commission and Cumming City Council to put the brakes on the number of high-density residential developments in the county, saying such development “presents a unique challenge to the school district’s financial sustainability.”

Instead, the school board, in a resolution signed by four of its five members, is calling on city and county officials to “attract, support, and expand high-quality commercial development.”

The resolution also notes that the school system’s enrollment has increased by nearly 30 percent in the past ten years. During that time, the county’s estimated population increased from 211,849 to 284,037.

For years the county has been one f the fastest growing counties in the country.
