Clustered near the Hall, Dawson and Cherokee county lines, Forsyth County has more than 12,000 housing units that have been approved for construction but have yet to be built.
County officials who recently enacted a moratorium on large-scale residential developments did an inventory of already approved plans for new subdivisions, etc. They used a GIS (Geographic Information System) tool to conduct the inventory.
