Public input meeting set on Forsyth elementary school redistricting plan

A public input meeting will be held Wednesday by Forsyth County school officials as the school system moves ahead with a school attendance zone redistricting ahead of next fall’s opening of a new elementary school.

The redistricting is designed, school officials say, to relieve overcrowding at several existing elementary schools and “populate” Midway Elementary School, a new, larger replacement school opening in August 2024. There will be no change to middle and high school attendance lines for 2024-25.

Potentially impacted elementary schools include but are not limited to: Big Creek, Brandywine, Haw Creek, Kelly Mill, Mashburn, the current Midway school, Sawnee, and Vickery Creek.

A draft redistricting map was presented to the school board September 12 and is posted at Deputy Superintendent / 2024-25 Redistricting (forsyth.k12.ga.us) for review and public input which will be accepted through Sept. 29.

Monday’s meeting will be held at 6:00 at West Forsyth High School.
