Several people were hurt during a chase on Georgia 400 Thursday afternoon that began when a suspected drunk driver fled a traffic stop by a Forsyth County sheriff’s deputy.
FORSYTH CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE NARRATIVE:
“At approximately 3:30pm a deputy pulled over a Silver Dodge Durango for a traffic violation. As the deputy approached the vehicle, the driver sped off. The deputy pursued the Durango.
Within 3 minutes additional deputies (deployed) stop sticks designed to deflate the tires and shutting down the southbound ramps to GA 400 (between Exits 14 and 15). The driver continued erratically passing additional Law Enforcement vehicles and struck other motorists. There are reports of multiple injuries.
(The) Georgia State Patrol Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT)…responded to the area and will be conducting the investigation. The driver is being investigated for suspected DUI….”
