Forsyth Co. principal apologizes for something a speaker said while addressing students

The principal of a Forsyth County elementary school has issued an apology after a speaker used the word “gay” while addressing students recently.

Sharon Elementary School hosted Marc Tyler Nobleman, who wrote “Bill the Boy Wonder: The Secret Co-Creator of Batman,” earlier this week. The book focuses on Bill Finger, who wasn’t officially credited for his role in creating the superhero until years after his death.

In the letter sent to parents, Principal Brian Nelson say that Nobleman discussed Finger’s life and included that he was gay. The principal apologized and said that subject matter was not approved before Nobelman’s talk.

The Forsyth Coalition for Education disagreed with the principal’s action, saying it “is harmful to LGBTQ members of the community.”
