The moratorium on Forsyth County’s acceptance of applications for sketch plats or land disturbance permits for residential construction has been extended for another 180 days. This affects residentially zoned properties that were rezoned prior to April 13, 2017.
During the adoption of the extension Thursday by the county commission a clerical error was made stating that the moratorium would be extended to April 13, 2027. The moratorium extension is for 180 days, setting it to expire on June 2, 2026, pending any additional commission action.
The moratorium, initially adopted in the spring prior to added extensions, was unanimously adopted
by the commission in response to a resolution passed by the Forsyth County Board of
Education asking the county, and City of Cumming, to “take effective measures to reduce or eliminate
high-density residential development.”
