Forsyth authorities seize more than a million dollars in counterfeit merchandise

The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office executed several search warrants across Forsyth County Friday, including one at a retail location in the Cumming City Center, as part of a months-long investigation into trademark infringement.

During the operation, detectives seized counterfeit merchandise valued at more than one million dollars and made two arrests in an ongoing investigation, according to the sheriff’s office.

“Trademark infringement is not a victimless crime,” said Sheriff Ron Freeman. “It harms consumers who believe they are purchasing legitimate products, it damages reputable businesses and manufacturers, and it contributes to larger global issues such as child labor. Our detectives will continue to hold accountable those who profit from these illegal practices.”

The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office says it will continue working closely with federal and state partners as the investigation develops.

The names of those who were arrested were not available at last check.
