Flowery Branch man charged with brother’s murder

A Flowery Branch man was charged Tuesday with the Monday night murder of his brother at a residence the two shared with their parents.

“Cristofer Daniel Arthurs, 36, faces charges of malice murder, felony murder and aggravated
assault in the death of Matthew Clayton Arthurs, 30, “Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) spokeswoman B.J. Williams said.

Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 4800 block of Rose Heights
Drive off Cash Road just after 8:30 Tuesday morning.

“The father of both the victim and the suspect called 911 after he found his younger son dead on a sofa in the basement area of the house,” Williams said. “The victim had been shot.”

Investigators believe he was wounded late Monday night and then died from his
injuries. Investigators recovered a gun from the scene of the crime. The motive is unknown at
this time.

The suspect remained at the scene and was taken to sheriff’s office headquarters for questioning and subsequently charged in his brother’s death.
