First Friday summer concert series returns this week

An “Atlanta-based party rock band playing decades of hit music,” Rock Station will jumpstart the 2025 First Friday Concert Series this week in downtown Gainesville. The city-hosted event takes place from 7:00-10:00 on the square.

The summer concert series continues monthly through September, featuring the following performers the first Friday of every month: Rock Station (party rock band), May 2; Funky Fresh Night with Sentimental Gentleman + GoMachine Collab (blue grass + groovy hits), June 6; Fly Betty Band (party band), July 4 with fireworks show at Midland Greenway; two-time Georgia Country Female Artist of the Year winner Mary Kate Farmer (country rock), Aug. 1; and Gregg Erwin Band (classic country), Sept. 5. Events are free and open to the public.

The main stage will be located at the corner of Main and Washington streets. Parking around the square will be blocked off at 1 p.m. in preparation for the event.

Between 2:00-3:00, Spring, Bradford, Washington and Main streets will be closed to traffic, allowing time for vendors and food trucks to get in place, and to enable crews to set up the stage and other equipment.
