A spokesman for the Fannin County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) said the blaze started about 1:45 at Danielle’s Cafe and quickly spread and was not brought under control for a couple of hours. Firefighters were able to save three businesses and three homes that caught fire.

Six fire engines, a ladder company, and more than 40 personnel were involved in fighting the blaze. Firefighters from Union and Gilmer counties assisted.
