Findings of state hunger study; Councilman resigns; Smoke on the water

*A new study finds low-income parents are going hungry in order to feed their children.  Kate Goodin of No Kid Hungry telling ANF their new study finds about 70% of Georgia families must choose between keeping the lights on or feeing their families. The study also finds 68% of families report food-related debt increased over the past year. Advocate groups are pushing for state lawmakers to opt-in to programs like SUN BUCKS which help feed kids in schools.

*A LaGrange city councilman has stepped down following a guilty plea tied to a GBI investigation. WTVM reports the resignation comes days after “Quay” Boddie, who works at LaGrange College, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor public indecency and obstruction charges connected to an incident involving a student at the college. Court records say Boddie admitted exposing himself to a student in his office at LaGrange College and later giving false information to investigators. Boddie accepted a plea deal that includes two years of probation, and his resignation took effect immediately.  

*Smoke off the Georgia coast may be from a 100-acre wildfire at the Wassaw National Wildlife Refuge near Savannah. The fire has been linked to a lightning strike.
