Funding has been approved for expanded broadband service in Habersham County.
More than $3.4 million in grants have been okayed as part of the federal Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program, with funds coming from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
All but $78,000 of that will be used by Windstream for new fiber optic connections. SpaceX/Starlink will use the remainder for satellite service connections.
