FCSO NEWS RELEASE:

“On July 19, 2023, deputies responded to Sharon Forks Library in reference to a suspicious incident. It was discovered that a bomb threat was typed into the internet search bar of a public computer in the children’s section of the library.

The library was evacuated and Explosion Detection K9s responded to the scene. The building was searched for explosives, and none were found. A truck that was hauling books from the Sharon Forks library was located at the Post Road library and was also searched, and no explosives were found.

Through the course of the investigation, detectives learned that a juvenile library volunteer was the only person around the computer when the threats were made. The juvenile was contacted and admitted to typing the threats into the public computer.

The child was criminally trespassed from all Forsyth County public libraries and a juvenile complaint form was completed and submitted for terroristic threats.”
