Two Gwinnett County teenagers have been arrested a charged with last Monday’s early morning drive-by shooting at a Flowery Branch residence that left one person wounded. And police say a third person may have been involved and that this apparently was not the first time the trio has been involved in such incidents.
“Officers responded to reports of gunfire at a residence, where suspects fired multiple rounds into
the home from a vehicle,” Flowey Branch Police spokesman Rick Whaley said Monday in adding new details about the incident itself. “One teenager inside the residence (in the 5900 block of Lights Ferry Road) sustained a gunshot wound to the shoulder. Four additional residents were present at the time but were not physically injured by the gunfire.”
The victim was transported to a local hospital and has since been released.
“Following an extensive investigation,” Whaley said, “authorities developed probable cause to charge two
individuals.”
A 16-year-old juvenile from Lawrenceville who was identified as the driver of the vehicle
involved has been charged with Aggravated Assault and 18-year-old Alan Castellanos-Luna of Sugar Hill who was identified as the shooter and was charged with five counts of aggravated assault as well as possession of a firearm during the commission of certain crimes.
The juvenile was taken into custody by Flowery Branch officers May 1. Castellanos-Luna was apprehended later that evening with assistance from the Gwinnett County Police Department.
“Investigators believe at least one additional individual was involved in this incident, and the trio
is connected to a series of crimes committed in other jurisdictions,” Whaley added.
Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Flowery Branch Police.
