FBPD: Traffic stop leads to ‘significant’ drug seizure

An alleged drug dealer remained in the Hall County Jail Wednesday morning after being arrested earlier this week during a traffic stop in Flowery Branch. A Flowery Branch police officer stopped Kyle Loel’s car Monday because it had a malfunctioning headlight, according to police spokesman Tony Alvarez.

“During the stop, the Officer made contact with the driver, Kyle Loel, 24, of Decatur,” Lt. Alvarez said. While speaking with Mr. Loel, the Officer detected the odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle.
Based on this observation, a probable cause search was conducted.”

The search, Alvarez added, resulted in the discovery of a “felony amount of marijuana, a quantity of suspected cocaine, a quantity of suspected psilocybin mushrooms (“shrooms”), suspected LSD, multiple
pills of suspected ecstasy, various drug-related objects, and approximately $1,000 in cash.”

He was taken into custody without incident and charged with:

  • Possession of Schedule I Controlled Substance – 3 counts
  • Possession/Control/Manufacturing/Poss. With Intent to Sell Marijuana
  • Headlight Requirement
  • Possession and use of Drug Related Object
