FBPD: New Year’s Eve traffic stop leads to drug charges

FLOWERY BRANCH POLICE DEPARTMENT (FBPD) NEWS RELEASE:

“(Wednesday) Flowery Branch Police Department Officers
conducted a traffic stop for minor equipment violations. Darrin Carter, 57, of Newnan, was
identified as the driver.

During the traffic stop, Flowery Branch Police Department K9 was deployed and gave a positive
alert on the vehicle. Based on probable cause, Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and
located approximately 6.3 grams of suspected methamphetamine.

Carter was placed under arrest without incident and later transported to the Hall County
Detention Center, where he was booked on the following charges:

  • Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute
  • Possession of Methamphetamine
  • Use of a Communication Device to Facilitate Drug Transactions
  • Possession of a Drug-related Object”
