An Atlanta man police say has been linked to fraud, theft, and forgery cases in Hall, Forsyth and Cherokee counties has been arrested and jailed in Gainesville.
Flowery Branch Police Deputy Police Chief Todd Templeton said Friday Ryan Kenneth Adams became a wanted man after police opened an investigation into a report of fraud at a business on Cantrell Road.
“The initial report indicated that between December 2023 and March
2024, an unknown individual had altered the business’s registration
with the Georgia Secretary of State’s Office and opened a fraudulent
bank account into which fraudulent checks were being deposited,” Chief Templeton said.
“Flowery Branch Police Investigators promptly initiated an investigation
into the matter. During the course of the investigation, it was
discovered that the suspect had committed additional fraudulent
activities against the business.”
Through various leads and the review of surveillance video from
multiple locations, investigators identified Adams as a suspect in the case.
“Further investigation revealed that Mr.
Adams was also linked to several similar acts of fraud across Hall,
Cherokee, and Forsyth counties.”
Last July, Flowery Branch Police obtained arrest warrants for
Adams, charging him with three counts of Identity Theft/Fraud,
Forgery in the 1st Degree, Forgery in the 3rd Degree, and Theft by
Receiving.
Adams was brought to Hall County Thursday from Jackson State Prison in Jackson, Georgia, where was serving a 10-year sentence for identity fraud and theft by taking in Cobb County.
“The Flowery Branch Police Department continues to urge businesses
and individuals to remain vigilant against identity theft and fraud and to
report any suspicious activity immediately,” Chief Templeton said.
