FBPD: Buford woman charged with fraud, exploiting elderly

A Buford woman remained in the Hall County Jail early Friday in lieu of bonds totaling $12,900 following her arrest earlier this week by Flowery Branch police

FLOWERY BRANCH POLICE (FBPD) NEWS RELEASE:

“…Tuesday Flowery Branch Officers responded to a financial
institution located in the 4700 Block of Hog Mountain Road in
reference to a reported fraud.

Upon arrival, Officers met with the
victim, who reported that a family member, Leona Metcalf, 52, of
Buford, had unlawfully used her personal identifying information to
open multiple credit card and insurance accounts without
authorization.

Following the complaint, Investigators with the
department launched a thorough investigation. As a result, Leona
Metcalf has been charged with the following offenses:

  • (2) Counts of Identity Fraud
  • (1) Count of Financial Transaction Card Fraud
  • (1) Exploiting an Elderly Person”
