Fall begins with falling gas prices

The Gainesville average for a gallon of regular gasoline is down four cents from last week to $2.84, according to AAA.

The statewide average is $2.87, three cents less than last Monday, and nationally, the price is $3.13, down from $3.18 a week ago.

AAA says the falling prices are due, in part, to, well – fall, because of winter-blend gasoline which is cheaper to produce. However, the Atlantic hurricane season is only halfway over, and the tropics remain a concern because if there’s storm activity in the Gulf that will affect refineries in that area.
