UPDATE: Explosion rocks White Co.

WHITE COUNTY PUBLIC SAFETY FACEBOOK POSTING:

“October 8, 2023, around 8:30pm, White County E911 Communications received reports of an explosion and residential fire in the area of Gunn Circle. First arriving units met with three individuals who were able to escape the blaze. All three individuals were promptly evaluated and transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center by White County EMS. It was then confirmed that no one remained in the home. Fire personnel were able to quickly contain the fire preventing it from spreading to nearby structures. Fire personnel was able to achieve knockdown of the blaze and surrounding homes were surveyed for damage as a result of the explosion. Fire Personnel remained on scene throughout the night extinguishing hot spots to prevent reignition.

White County Fire Services responded to this call supported by mutual aid from Cleveland Fire Department. White County Emergency Management’s UAS1 (drone) was deployed to survey and provide overwatch for Fire Personnel. White County EMA’s Community Emergency Response Team also responded with their Rehab truck to aid Fire Personnel in recovery from fighting fire.

The cause of the explosion and resulting fire is currently under investigation by the Georgia State Fire Marshal’s Office.

Any individuals within a two mile radius who have property damage due to the explosion, please report damage to White County E911 Communications by calling 706-865-091.”

Details are sketchy. A Facebook posting from White County Public Safety simply says “fire services working explosion in the area of the new Dollar General on Highway 115E. Anyone with damage within a 2 mile radius report to White County Dispatch at 706-865-0911.”
