A 32-year-old Gainesville man is being held without bond in the Hall County Jail following his arrest Wednesday night after, according to authorities, he wrecked his car and then fled on foot.
This was a single vehicle accident, the sheriff’s office said, that occurred when the vehicle left the road and hit a tree on Stallworth Street near Georgia Avenue. The driver, Armando Guillen, who was slightly injured, ran from the scene on foot. Deputies found him on Stallworth Street and arrested him for DUI and several other offenses:
- Driving with suspended/canceled/revoked tag
- Pedestrian under the influence of alcohol
- Failure to maintain lane
- Safety belts; required usage
- Duty to stop at accident (hit and run, leaving scene of acc.)
- Open container violation while operating motor vehicle
- No proof of minimum insurance
The wreck happened about 10:45. The deputy classified Guillen’s injuries as minor/visible. He was not transported to the hospital.”
