Drought coverage in Georgia this week is a fourth smaller than it was a week ago, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor (USDM). And is virtually non-existent in northeast Georgia.
Drought-free parts of the state increased from 59 percent last Thursday to 85 percent this week.
In northeast Georgia, only Dawson and Pickens counties and a small portion of Lumpkin are among areas where the drought is present. The biggest concentrations are in middle and southeast Georgia.
