There was little change this past week in the amount of Georgia suffering from drought conditions, but the intensity increased in several places, including Hall and a number of adjacent counties.
The U.S. Drought Monitor (USDM) says “moderately dry” conditions in our area now cover most of south and southeastern Hall County, all of Gwinnett, Barrow, and Jackson counties, most of Forsyth, and part of Banks. Conditions in other parts of northeast Georgia, are considered a little less severe -“abnormally” dry.
The worst conditions are in some counties in the southwest corner of the state, where “extremely” dry conditions exist.
Meanwhile, the level of Lake Lanier is down another half-a-foot since last week and is now at 1066.5.
