Drought conditions in Hall County and neighboring counties worsened over the past seven days but the amount of the state suffering from the drought remained virtually unchanged.
The U.S. Drought Monitor says things worsened not only in Hall and adjacent counties but also in other parts of northeast Georgia as well as northwest, west central and southwest parts of the state and metro Atlanta. Drought conditions in all of those areas are now considered “moderate.” The rest of the state is “moderately” dry, the least severe category.
The amount of the state affected by the drought remains at about 65 percent.
The level of Lake Lanier, meanwhile, changed very little over the past week. Friday morning it was 1067.3, a decrease of two-tenths of a foot. For the month of November, it is down about a foot.
