Drought-free parts of Georgia increasing

Drought-free parts of Georgia increased another ten percent over the past week.

The U.S. Drought Monitor (USDM) reported Thursday that 38 percent of the state – including Hall and all adjacent counties – is now drought-free.

The drought-free area is confined to a large swath of counties along and to the northwest and southeast of a line from Rabun County to Columbus. There are, however, drought conditions in all or parts of a string of counties along the Tennessee and North Carolina borders.

The level of Lake Lanier, meanwhile, is down a bit from a week ago and now sits at 1071.8.
