Drought conditions, lake level virtually unchanged

There was little change in drought conditions in Georgia the past week and level of Lake Lanier did not move at ll.

The U.S. Drought Monitor (USDM) says in its weekly report that the major change has been the addition of “exceptional” that have creeped into the state from north Florida and into Echols, Lowndes, Brooks, Thomas, and Grady counties. “Exceptional” is the most severe of conditions on the scale that USDM uses.

Closer to home all or parts of Hall and several counties to the east and northwest are classified as suffering from “extreme” conditions. Everybody else is shown as “severely” dry.

And the level of Lake Lanier is unchanged since last Thursday – 1066.3.
