Drought conditions continue to blanket Ga.

This week’s Georgia map from the U.S. Drought Monitor (USDM) looks very much like last week’s. But the level of Lake Lanier is down another two-tenths of a foot.

The USDM report shows that “red” continues to dominate the Georgia drought map, “red” meaning conditions are “extreme.” So far, the worst of the worse – “exceptional” conditions – remains confined to southeast Georgia, except for a strip of counties along the coast.

In our area, Hall and all other northeast Georgia counties are still showing “extreme” conditions.

As of Thursday morning, the level of Lake Lanier was down to 1065.6.
