DOJ withdraws support for trans woman at Buford prison

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has withdrawn Biden-era support of the attempts by a transgender woman inmate at the Phillips State Prison in Buford to obtain gender-affirming care and surgery while in the Georgia prison system.

DOJ says in it court filing, which can be read in full here statement of interest, the action is being taken because “the United States has since disavowed the scientific theories on which the Doe SOI was based.”
